Dear St. Martin’s Parishioners,

Please find inserted in this week’s bulletin the Parish Financial Report for the fiscal year of July 2023-June 2024. Overall we finished with a net increase of revenues over expenses of $111,000. The break down of this is important to understand, though. The parish’s expenses exceeded revenues by $104,541, while the school’s revenues exceeded expenses by about $216,000. As the priests mentioned last week, it is important for us to raise our offertory collections so that we can keep up with parish expenses. As with previous years, the bulk of our parish’s expenses are for clergy and religious personnel ($423,171) and religious education ($314,791). Essentially, we expend most of our resources in the areas of sanctifying, catechesis and evangelization—which is as it should be.

In this year, I expect to spend about $50,000 in the demolition of the Fr. Meyer House. There may be some HVAC work that we have to do in the church, but I do not have a cost for that work yet. We are also looking to upgrade the video camera surveillance in the church, parish office and parish grounds. County grants could help us with that, but I still expect that it may cost more than $20,000 to do. In addition, there is construction work needed on the houses at 35 and 37 S. Summit Ave. to bring them up to code.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the financial report, and I am extremely grateful for your sacrificial and generous support of our parish through your time, talent and treasure!

I encourage you to take the opportunity to stop by our Ministry Fair this weekend to see how you can get involved in our parish life. There will be about 40 ministries represented, so please consider becoming more involved in our parish’s liturgical, educational, community, service, evangelization and prayer life!

Lastly, I will continue to plead for your assistance with our parish pantry, which is low on reserves right now. We served over 400 clients again last week, and demand shows no sign of diminishing. Thank you for your support of this vital ministry!

In Christ,

Fr. Dave
