Dear St. Martin’s Parishioners,
This Sunday the Church celebrates the great solemnity of Pentecost. While the Church is conceived from the blood and water that flowed from Jesus’ Sacred Heart upon the cross, she comes to birth at Pentecost. The event of Pentecost reveals fully the work of the Holy Trinity in salvation:
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father! It is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs of Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him (Rom. 8: 14-17).
We have a quite a few events upcoming that I would like you to highlight in your calendars:
Saturday, June 1: Holy Hour for Ordinandi. Parishes across the Archdiocese are invited to pray for the 16 men to be ordained to the priesthood. Our holy hour will be from 9:30am-10:30am.
Sunday, June 2: Corpus Christi. On this day we publicly manifest our belief in the sacramental presence of Christ’s body, blood, soul and divinity in the most holy Eucharist through a Eucharistic procession after the 9:00am Mass. We will process from the church entrance, across route 355, and to Fr. Meyer Field, where there will be five altars beautifully adorned.
Saturday, June 8: We will have two buses leave from St. Martin’s to join the Mass for the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The buses leave at 6:30am to join the Mass at 8:00am. If you would like to purchase a ticket for the bus, please stop by the parish office.
